Sky is increasing its charges for voice services from 1 December 2015. For those on an Anytime package, costs will increase by an inflation-busting 18.9% from £22.40 per month to £26.65, made up of:
- Line rental – goes up from £16.40 to £17.40.
- The Talk Anytime – package goes up from £5.00 to £8.00.
- Voicemail – goes up from £1.00 to £1.25.
Calls to UK mobiles are now included within the package, perhaps making it good value for those who previously were reluctant to call mobiles from a landline due to cost.
It looks like international calls to selected countries have gone from being fully inclusive to a 2p-per-minute charge, adding £1.20 to the bill for a previously free hour-long call to your overseas friends or relations. This was difficult to check, as Sky’s current tariff guide has become unexpectedly shy and I was unable to find it despite searching several times!
Customers are automatically being migrated to the package Sky considers represents the best fit. Anyone who does not want the new package they have been assigned needs to proactively contact Sky to change package, in order to avoid paying for services they do not want.
